Curren$y: Pilot Talk Review by Cortez Bell

So I got a friend of mine who's a Curren$y fan to do a review of his first studio album Pilot Talk. Sooo Tez :) Thank you..take em away.

All the Jets, have been waiting for this album, since he announced it back in February, This is what all us Curren$y fans been waiting for since 07 when he departed his self from "Young Money". Let me go ahead and break down every track, for you, as would Curren$y would say..Just Enjoy This Shit :)! 

1. Example- This beat right here is crazyyyyyy! This the type of song, you pictures yourself walking around downtown and lights are everywhere and you just know your about to have a good time. This is the way you open up a album. 

2. Audio Dope II - One of my favorite Curren$y songs of all time. This beat, matchs the lyrics on this track, and that is DOPE. Curren$y let's you know on this one, that His music is very similar to dope, you have to listen to this one to get a better understand. 

3. King Kong- First single from "Pilot Talk'' that was release. This another one of those songs, you see yourself driving to your destination, and you just know that don't nobody got Sh*t on you! Idk, is it me, or Curren$y sure do know how to pick some beats! 

4. Seat Change Ft Snoop Dogg- I remember when Dame Dash Called Spitta and told him that this track made the album on ustream. Spitta was Mad hyped about it, and best believe i couldn't wait till hear it. Spitta and Snoop Dogg let they girls know, that they lost their seat on the passenger side. Very smooth track, beat got a Jazz feel to it. 

5. Breakfast- This is one of my favorite tracks on the album, i had this track on repeat way before the album came out, but the album version of the song is wayyy better. It's master, plus the beat done switched up alot, also it was produced by the Legend himself, "Mos Def" 

6. Roasted Ft Trademark Da Skydiver & Young Roddy- The 2nd single release from "Pilot Talk" that was release. Curren$y brought alone his crew "Jets'' on this one, and best believe everyone held their own on this one. 

7. Skybourne Ft Smoke DZA & Big Krit- This MIGHT be my favorite track on the album, it switch everytime i listen to it. This track got that Soulful sunny day feeling to it. I can just picture myself driving through the city, listening to this track right here on repeat. 

8. The Hangover Ft Mikey Rocks(From The Cool Kids) - The title says it all! Curren$y and Mikey rocks, let you know just enjoy your life, and have a good time. Very cool track. 

9. The Day Ft Jay Electronica & Mos Def- The first track from the group "Center Edge Territory" This the track everybody was waiting on and best believe it don't disappointed. You can tell by the way that all 3 of them are rapping on this one that they got a point to prove. 

10. Prioritize(Beeper Bill) Ft Nesby Phips- Now this joint right here is my favorite track on the album as of 3:38PM July 14th or 15th!! He released the video for this song before he actually release the track, but the album version is similar to "Breakfast'' master, and sounding better then ever.

11.Chilled Coughpee Ft Devin The Dude- This beat got a video game feeling to it, i done heard this sample from somewhere but i can't recall it for nothing Curren$y talks about etc things on his way over to a girl house, his verse on this one was whewwwwwww.

12. Address Ft Stalley- Most likely you done seen this video on MTV. The video was shot in Jamaica, and this track is very good. Curren$y let's you know he ain't forget where he came from, and the only thing that done change is the address. 

13. Life Under the Scope- The Master version of this track straight killed the video version!!!! I liked the way he closed the album off with this track, very smooth and lyrics are really on point.

College Orientation :)

I went to freshman orientation for the University of South Carolina today. It was freaking amazing :) I had the best time. My dorm sucks but hey, everything cant be perfect. This is my schedule.

 I gotta fix some times still, but those are my classes. Spanish, English, Computer Science and Art Studio. I can so tell im going to love it here! I cant wait to start school in the fall. <3

I meant to do this yesterday, but I got caught up with the Finals game. SMH at BOSTON. Pissed me off. But anyway, I've been waiting for June 15th since 2006 when I started listening to Drake, and finally, yesterday his debut album dropped. He finally did it. I remember when I was the only one at my school in 9th grade who even knew who he was, I would try to put ppl on him and they'd be like "nahhh, dude cant rap, he sucks," but they'd listen to Wayne. Now look who's team he's on...SMH at all you people who slept on him. :) This album was a great debut for him. The album as a lot of club bangers on it, a lot of songs for the ladies, and for the guys too. Drake speaks on everything thats happened in his life, love, and his struggles, and just having a good time with his team, Young Money. So im going write a bit about each song and what I THINK it means, and share my favorites and stuff :) ENJOY.

1.Fireworks ft Alicia Keys - Im happy with both versions I've heard. I love that beat to it, it just makes you mellow out and really think about everything hes saying. A really great song to vibe to. "Im flying back home for the Heritage Classic, searching for that feeling, tell me where is the magic? Lets stay together till we're ghosts. I wanna witness love, I never seen it close. Yeah, but I guess I gotta find it first, thats why Im really going off. FIREWORKS." 

2. Karaoke- "I was only tryna get aheaddddd." :) I really like this one. Drake talks about how difficult it is to have a relationship with a woman when you are trying to move up, or you are blowing up in music business, when she has her own way of living life, and doesn't really want to be in spotlight with you.

3. The Resistance- Ohh how I love this one :) Drake talks about how a lot of things in the music/ ent. business can tempt you, and can mess up things in other areas of your life, but you have to resist, how you have to try not to let it change you into a completely different person, but a better person and artist, and not to fall apart. "Man I couldn't tell you where the fuck my head is, I'm holding on by a thread it's like I'm high right now, the guy right now, and you can tell by looking in my eyes right now.
That nothing really comes as a surprise right now,'cause we just having the time of our lives right now."

4. Over- Yeah, no need to talk about this one. OVERPLAYED..everybody knows what this is about.

5. Show Me A Good Time- Produced by Genius - Mr. Kanye West. This is great song song to dance to. The beat is crazyyyy. The song is just about how hard he works but when you have a little time off to relax and let all your stress and troubles go and have a good time. "I aint tryin look like I lie to these niggas that I came up with. Thats my team. Never would I let a woman come inbetween what we doing right now, this our dream, Wu Tang Clan niggas want that cream."


6. Up All Night ft Nicki Minaj- Haha. I love chorus on this one. Drake talks about how successful him and his team are in the game right now and how he hopes that it never dies out. Young Money till the death of him - he says. "Bracelet saying you should quit, cars saying fuck ya life.Okay now we outta here, toodles to you bitches. And if you dolled up, I got the voodoo for you bitches."


7. Fancy ft. T.I. and Swizz Beatz- I can get so crunk to this song. Me and my girls :) Drake talks about its sexy for a girl to be doing so well for herself that she can pay for her own shit and have money left over to loan you a little something, if you ever need it, how its sexy for a girl to be smart and want to look good for herself and nobody else and be confident with who she is. "5 and 1/2 in boys, ass is off the hook. Cinderella, bout to lose the glass off her foot. When I find it, thats when I find you, and we can do all the things we never got the time to."

8. Shut It Down ft. The Dream - Ohh myyy. I actually do get ready to this song. This song makes any girl feel sexy and want to just get straight fly and make everybody want to stop and stare at her. I loveee this song. Just makes you feel just sexy as hell. My favorite part is when he saves the song and raps, then the music comes back and he finishes it off saying how he wants to lay ol' girl down...nice touchhhh.  "Shooting stars all around her. Fire. Comets. I can bring her through, and shut em down. Onyx."

9. Unforgettable ft. Young Jeezy- This is prob my second favorite song on the album. It has a sample from my favorite artist of all time, the late and great Aaliyah. "At Your Best (You Are Love)" is the song that is sampled. Drake and Jeezy talk about how they want to be remembered as greats in the future and how they want to be unforgettable artists in the business and how important longevity and substance is. This is another great song to vibe to, and the sample from Aaliyah just sets it off. "Always gone but never hard to find. And since you can’t escape me, do I ever cross your mind?"


10. Light Up feat. Jay- Z - I really loved both verses on this song. Drake and Hov talk about how they are the subjects of all the buzz. Both rappers talk about how other people hate to see them being successful and try and distract them from being just that. "...but party on, party on, all night nigga.
I got these new rappers nervous, prom night nigga. I've grown tired of these fucking grown man liars. Storytellers, they ain't even need a campfire."

11. Miss Me ft. Lil Wayne - I love the beat to this song, it may not be as complex as the others but it still gets you hype. Drake's verse is nice and his flow is crazy. Wayne has some good punchlines. Drake probably recored this after he came off his recovery from tearing his ACL. In the chorus he says that he hopes that everybody misses him, should he ever go away."Yeah, bills everywhere, trill everything
And Drake just stand for Do Right And Kill Everything."

12. CeCe's Interlude- This MUST be dedicated to a special girl. Drakes talks about how he wants to put it on this chick ;) Nothing much to say there. Drake showcases his vocals on this one.

13. Find Your Love- Produced by the great, Kanye West,  Drake sings this whole song. This is the only song on the album that is completely sang. Drake talks about how he refuses to be just a nobody in this special girls life. How he's determined to be different and find the key to her heart and give her his all. EVERYBODY can relate to this song, Im sure. "Im more than just an option, refuse to be forgotten. I took a chance with my heart, and I feel it taking over. I better find your loving, I better find you heart..."

14. Thank Me Now - This is my favorite song on the album. Drake's flow is crazyy. The second verse is my favorite. But if you want to know what this song is about, you should probably go BUY the album. "I got flows for the Marilyn Monroe’s who’s there before it all.I guess thats how it goes. They hear about your cons or focus on your pro’s and love you for who you are from the bottom of their soul....."

Long time, NO post.

Ahh I dont know where to even start! Last time I blogged I was going through some things..sheesh..smh. But now everything is pretty good, I must say. With the help of God and some pretty amazing friends (you know who you are) I got through everything and learned a lot in the process. Now its the end of May, schools out and IVE GRADUATED :) Walking across that stage is the most amazing feeling and this past Saturday I turned 18. FINALLY LEGAL too. :) My family came up for graduation and my aunt surprised me with my cousin that I haven't seen since I was like 6 from California. That was the greatest gift! I am so grateful for all the people in my life and that have helped me get to where I am today. Im so ready to start my life :) in college. Congrats to all class of 2010 graduates :)

Something else great happened last week. One of the greatest artists of our generation has returned :) Mr. Kanye West. Hes been gone for a bit now. I never knew that everything was falling through.

These past week and a half has been like hell for me. Everything has been falling apart. I don't have that special someone in my life in "that way" anymore and I realllly miss him, prom is falling apart, everything is just reallly messed up for me right now. Half of it is my fault, all my fault. I always find a way to mess things up for myself and hurt the people I care about, because I always THINK I can handle things, and that I can do things that I really cant, and it always backfires on me. I'm trying to be happy but I guess in  the wrong way. Its like when I fix one thing, something else falls apart. Like cause and effect..smh. Prom is going to be crazy because I was supposed to go with a group of my friends but now we are all split up, and theres gonna be sooo much drama at both proms. But the good side to prom is I get to spend time with that special someone, show him that hes still special to me. So I'm excited about that part. I'm just hoping things don't get worse with him, only better. But its gonna be hard for me because now all I can think about is how I betrayed his trust and how I hurt him and myself. I think I finally fixed things with my ex, so thats a good point in my life right now, but still sucks because I still have a bit of feelings for him. My life at home is very tense. I'm still so unhappy in so many ways. I guess I got part of what I wanted. I guess what they say is true, you cant have your cake and eat it too. Guys please keep me in your prayers...I know this post is very sporadic and all over the place, but I had to do it.

This song always gets me. Reminds me that everything will be okay in time and that God will handle it all, the way it supposed to be. No matter how much wrong I do, he'll always love me.

Wiz Khalifa: Kush and Orange Juice

So yesterday, Wiz Khalifa, Pittsburgh rapper, dropped his long awaited mixtape, Kush and Orange Juice yesterday. It was the most talked about topic on twitter all day, and its still trending. I was at school when it dropped, but as soon as I got out, I was on here trying to download it. I love it. The vibe is really chill. Like seriously while I was listening to it, I was like dang, I wish I smoked, because this is some good stuff to vibe and smoke too! LOL. But Wiz went in! I haven't stopped listening to it yet. If you dont have it, you should really go get it. All the songs are good and the skits are pretty funny. If you smoke, you probably couldn't and wouldn't be able to refrain from rolling one up while listening. Good job Wiz. I can say FINALLY DRAKE. You give us something that at least looks like you had some input in it. Personally I liked it. Could have been a bit more deep, but hey hes no Mr.West. When it falls down who you gone call now?

This week has been horrible so far. I thought things were good. Its like once I get one thing right, another falls apart. Maybe I'm just trying to hard to please everybody but the God and  person the I should be trying please, the person I'm in a relationship with. I may have said somethings in the past, at the beginning, that I really do regret saying. It was all heat of the moment and I admitted I was wrong for everything I said. I shouldn't have judged you all in one day, over one incident. I wouldn't let anything or anybody come between you and me. Just know that I'm blessed to have somebody true like you in my life. You've changed so much for me, and I know it seems like I've done nothing for you. I'm looking to change that. People in a relationship should be able to talk about their issues and I know pride gets in the way but sometimes you have to let it go. It really hurts knowing that you're furious with me, and I'm not completely sure why. I know its hard for you to trust people, and you may feel like I've betrayed your trust already. I truly am SORRY.

Tattoos and Piercings :)

So its been about 4 days since I last posted. I finally found someone to fix my computer. It finally works now :) So Ill try to blog more, but I might be getting a job soon, not sure about that yet. But anyways, here in South Carolina they have FINALLY lowered the age that people are able to get tattoos without parental consent to 18 :D. Im sooo happy. As soon as I get to USC in Columbia Im finding the nearest place to get one! Im gonna be posting some tattoos and piercings Im thinking about getting. A lot of people tell me I shouldnt get all the piercings Im thinking about getting, because they will make me look ugly =/. What do you guys think?

  

The Rihanna tattoo is the word Love on her middle finger.  I want this one first. People say finger tattoos hurt but I dont care. I dont want it because she has it, I think its suppper cute. The Chinese symbol is the word Hope. I want this one behind my ear on the back of my neck. I also want a lower abdomen tattoo, but I don't want the cherry though. I want the words Just Have Some Faith in the same font that Love is written in. My middle name is Faith so thats why I want that one. What do you guys think? Too much? People who know me personally know that my dad is crazzzy overprotective, so its only predictable that I go wild once I get on my own.

 I want a bar in my cartilage,I think. I'm iffy about it. I think it might be too much. But if I do, I want it in my right ear and just a simple stud in my left. If I don't I'll just go simple on both :) I also want my noise pierced. Just a small one, like Tupac. But I don't know. Some people say I shouldn't. But the piercing  I'm getting for sure is my belly button! Thats all I want..I think. Too much? Let me know what you guys think I should and shouldn't do! 2:29 Thoughts....Happy Easter.

Its getting pretty late and Im still up -_-. I have lots on my mind. There has been one particular thing that has been heavy on my mind for a loooong time now, like years. How do you tell if you are in lust with somebody or in love with somebody. I've only truly been in love once, and that was so long ago. I know you cant be in love with everrybooddy you come across, thats just dumb. Its always hard to tell because you are blinded by the amazing way that person makes you feel...Just a thought.

On a lighter note, ITS EASTER! I thank Jesus for everything he has done for me and everything hes going to do for me! You will always be a big part of my life. I cant give you enough praise.

Okay So I was looking for stuff to blog about, and I am came across this article about Jennifer Husdon and how she has lost a whole bunch of weight. I was shocked when I saw the pictures! She looks really good! After she gave birth to her son, she got on Weight Watchers and made a plan to lose the pounds! Im a fan of her music. She has an incredible voice! She looks stunning, you go girl! She is an inspiration to all women who would like to lose weight to look and feel their best. You're a beautiful person, no matter what you weigh!

One of the flyest young cats.

So its 3:11 a.m and I was doing some searching and reading some blogs. I was reading Ricci Steez's Blog and I found out that Diggy Simmons got signed to Altantic Records. Congrats to him! You might know him as Rev Run's son and you might have seen him on the hit MTV show Run's House. What you may not know about Diggy is that he is a very talented kid. He is very into fashion and has a fly style like no other. He is also a rapper. I have come love his music. His oder brother JoJo Simmons also raps, but in my opinion Diggy is 10x better. He released a mixtape a couple months ago call The First Flight and Im always listening to it. When I listened to it for the first time, I was shocked. I couldn't believe Diggy had a flow like that. He was always my favorite person on Runs House. I think I have a small crush on him :) Id love to meet him! But hes wayy too young. Not tryna catch any charges :P. Diggy is very inspiring young man. He has started his own movement along with two of his friends called Young Crafters. This guy has his hands in everything. I cant wait to see what he comes up with for his line and for when his first album comes out. Its amazing what our generation is doing. Diggy is a perfect example of a kid who doesn't want to just be known for his who dad is. He wants to make a name for himself. Really amazing and inspiring. He is the future. Im waiting patiently. If you dont have his mixtape The First Flight, cop that PLEASE. Support him! Im not a big car person, but I know what I like! For graduation, if I do get a car, I want this one for my first car :) But if I dont get it, thats cool too, as long as I have a car!

Lady GaGa: Telephone

Lady GaGa is an icon. She is so creative and unusual. Me and my friends saw her and Beyonce's video for "Telephone" and we were in awe. We decided we wanted to do a remake of the video. My friend Annie as Lady GaGa and LaKetra as Beyonce and myself as an actress/dancer. Go cop Lady GaGa's album  The Fame Monster. It so happens that today is Lady GaGa's birthday :) HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAGA!
